It has been several weeks since I received an e-mail sale announcement and yet from what I have been reading in other posts some of you at least have been receiving them. I asked customer service about it a few days ago and was asked to provide my physical mailing address. So far I have not heard anything in reply. The request for my address made me wonder if these sales are being offered selectively in geographical areas to collect sales data for the company. In any case, since nothing about my personal computer settings have changed, the conclusion I have come to is that these e-mail sales are not being sent to my e-mail address. This is the third time that I feel this has happened to me during the past year. The first time I notified customer service and immediately received the sales e-mail. The second time I didn't do anything and the e-mail sales announcements returned after about 5-6 weeks. I would like to know if those of you who regularly participate in this forum have ever had a similar experience. Did anyone receive an e-mail sales announcement this past week?

Yes, I have had extended dry spells when I received no e-mail or anykind from Shopsmith. I think we all do. Those that do not, if there is anyone in that category, I would suspect are VERY regular customers.

My last e-mail special was 3/4/08; an offering for Bandsaw Tires.

The one before that was 2/26/08; 35% Off Specialty Lathe Chisels.

The one before that was 2/2208; Weekend Overstock Sale.

Stay in contact with customer service (1-800-543-7586); they can help, we can only sympathize.

OK. The secret is out. We were told by SS not to tell you, and only you, about the e-mail deals. LOL!!!

I get the e-mail offers all the time. I have the same problem as you with Harbor Freight. I get tossed off their list all the time. Who knows why?????

I also just noticed in the last few day that the e-mail deals are also posted at the top of the owners site. http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/index.htm

I just started getting the email specials about two weeks ago. Out of the blue, don't know the reason.

I have been getting lots of e-mail specials. Not counting the e-mails that I get about the "weekly" specials that are also shown on the owners page, here is a complete list for the month of February:
Feb 1 Deluxe How-to Maintenance Kit
Feb 5 Mark V Table Storage
Feb 7 Free Shipping
Feb 8 Dust Covers
Feb 12 Router Bits
Feb 14 Saw Arbors
Feb 15 Shopsmith Books and Owners Manuals
Feb 19 3 Great Products
Feb 21 Bandsaw Blades
Feb 22 Overstock Sale (1st one)
Feb 26 Specialty Lathe Tool Sets
Feb 28 Drum Sanding Package
Feb 29 Overstock Sale (2nd one)

So far for March only the Bandsaw Tire sale on the 4th.

If someone wants it, I can make up a list for January too.

I am no expert; but, I think that it would be harder for SS to keep track of who to send what e-mail to, then it is for them to send all of the e-mails to all of the address they have on record. I see no benefit for them to only send some e-mail specials to certain people. It would certainly require more man-hours to do that, and why would they want to restrict sales in any way? Just my opinion......

I think that it is something else restricting the delivery of e-mails; mainly your settings and/or your ISP settings. As I have pointed out in other threads: My ISP considers about 20% of the e-mail that I get from SS as SPAM. I would not be getting them except that I tell my ISP to send me the SPAM, not to block it. SS is not the only sender that my ISP says sends SPAM, when in fact, it is e-mail that I want to get.

I did not get the last three
Feb 28 Drum Sanding Package
Feb 29 Overstock Sale
March 4th only the Bandsaw Tire sale

Which is too bad because I wanted the Drum Sander Package, it is one of the few things I don't own.

I am wondering if Shopsmith removes you from the mailing list if they get a bounce back from your ISP. Mine had major email issues at the end of Feb.

Here's part of my post from another thread; it may shed some light on this discussion:

"As far as who receives our emails and who doesn't, in most cases there is little that we can do. A fair amount of ISPs block our emails as a customer service, having declared them to be spam. Not everyone is as receptive to our emails as we could wish and there have been complaints. If your Internet provider is one of those that blocks us, there's nothing we can do -- it's up to you."

We do petition, plead, and cajole the larger of the ISPs to keep the pipelines open. Sometimes they agree; sometimes they don't. Sometimes they open them up for a time, then shut them down again without warning or explanation. However, if you have given us you remail address, you are automatically included in our mailings. We don't remove anyone from our list unless you ask to be removed or we consistently receive bouncebacks.

With all good wishes,
