Digital angle gauge

I would like to find a digital angle gauge that works handsfree on a ss aluminum table. Magnets won't hold to the aluminum table. Since the ss blade doesn't tilt you can't attach to the blade. Any suggestions?

Mount it on the rip fence T slot or epoxy to mitre gage handle.

Then you could read 0 for normal alignment/cutting and any other angle when table tilted.

I think what most everyone does is set the digital gauge on the blade and zero it then they set it on the table and read the angle. For hands free will it stick to the screws holding the throat plate in?
If not how about the bar on the mitre gauge?

Depending on the strength of the magnets I wonder if you could epoxy a piece of steel or something magnetic under the table. I don't know whether the gauge magnet would be strong enough to hold through the aluminum of the table top.

I bought a Wixey "dig-a-guage" and i've had good luck attaching it to the table by just using a small bar clamp, using very little pressure to hold it down flat to the table. The extra step, (clamping) makes it hands free so you can tilt the table with one hand and lock it in place with the other. (ShopSmiths should come with one of these guages, see my SS350 post):cool:

Now, by looking at my picture, i've clamped it to the left side of the table because there's flat spot underneith where the side of the table recesses for my my clamp to be seated square. (crappy description I know but go out to yours and see what I mean:) ) If I attach it to the right side of my table, I have to use a small block of wood under the table for the clamp to seat properly. REMEMBER, NOT TOO MUCH PRESSURE OR YOU'LL CRUSH THE DARN THING!!!!!

If you have a Tenon Master, take a look at that base assembly. It works well with the Wixey.
