Today I finished pressing out all the bearings of my three headstocks. I was on a roll after realizing I suffered a short misplacement of my head in thinking there was a carefully cut spacer on the two bearing quill.
So after separating the quill, I moved onto the control sheave. Of all the bearings I had pulled, the control sheave bearing seamed to be the driest. The control sheave bearing was simply pushed in & then hit with a pin punch either 7-8 times on the end on my older sheaves or 4 times on the side of the newer ones.
I found the bearing easily pushed out. Next I squeezed the ends of the piece which was in the center of the bearing & pushed that out. All in all a simple process. I'm not sure then why the control sheaves are considered non-reparable, unless it is because of the uniqueness of the swivel.
I'm going to order some 637Z or equivalent bearings and see what happens.
