I noticed installation instructions for the auxiliary spindle shaft guard (http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/productmanuals/MKVShaftGuard.pdf). I don't have this guard on my SS. It seems like a good thing to have, safety wise. The part number shown is 521889, but that number is not listed in the catalog. Does anyone know if it is possible to purchase this for older SS's? Mine was built in 1985.

Hi,

We talked about it at:
www.ssug.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=946

There is a part # and price at the time and some details.......

Ed,
Thanks for the info. The part # is the same as I posted above, which the SS site does not seem to recognize. Perhaps they changed the part #. I guess I'll call SS.

Shopsmith know the part is not available on the website, you can just all and speak to customer service. My question is does it fit on onl 500 motors on upgraded 520's. I don't think I have a hole in the motor for the screw.

A drill will take care of that. Hopefully they have instructions and a template for drilling.

They will when they sell it as an "upgrade" and I will be the first to but it. For now when I called they did not say they had it.
