Here's wishing you a very happy Birthday, Ron!!:D I enjoy your input into the Forum. :)
(I still have as a goal, to someday build a chair almost as beautiful as the one in your Personal Photo.)

http://www.ridgidforum.com/forum/images/smilies2/happy-birthday.gif Ron! That is a VERY nice looking chair. A question, if you do knot mind: How do you get the correct angle for each one of the holes that you need to drill for that chair back? Sure are a lot of clamps hanging on your wall.

I wish I had pictures of step by step on building this Windsor chair but I don't. Basically a jig was used that was strapped to the completed seat with the legs having been already attached the day before. With the jig in place, the arm posts and center post are drilled first with the help of another set of eyes telling you if you are drilling the correct angle. The arm posts and center spindle are then attached to the seat with use of the jig. With the center & arm posts in place then it was just a matter of using a long drill bit extension with someone aligning your angle on the holes which already have been drilled on the seat back to the location that you have already marked on the seat. It is hard to explain this without pictures. This particular chair was made by me in an extensive 3 day class at a woodcraft store in Franklin, TN. All the measurements & angles and such were provided with the instruction part of the class, so they are already figured out. I was given the information to make a jig for this process if I build any in my shop. I have since made a continuous arm rocking chair there which is similar to the one in the picture. I understand why hand made chairs are so expensive to purchase, as the three days it took to build the first chair were pretty much 8 hour days with just a short lunch break. As for the clamps in the picture, I wish they were mine but they are what is available to use at the Woodcraft classroom. Thanks for the birthday wishes. I try not to think about them anymore.
