routing end grain plywood

How can you avoid the router cutter from end grain splintering the surface of the plywood on the edge of the cut ??? I am using an Ogee cutter. Would using masking tape or scoring the edge of cut with a utility knife prevent the splintering ??

I would say don't do it that way......

It would be a lot easier to attach a piece of wood to the plywood edge and route that. BTW plywood is end grain every other layer.... so you can also expect chip outs and a lot of sanding and filling, and you still might get the top/bottom layers coming off in slivers after the fact depending on gain/type of wood/ and other factors.

Your finish will almost always look bad due to the hole pockets in the plywood. You can try to route it while it is still wider before you trim it or clamp boards on both ends so the chip out doesn't break at the end.
