Does anyone know a good forum or newsgroup to ask about old hand tools?
I've inherited a lot with my father's-in-law shop. There are a few that I can't be sure of the intended use, some have manufacturer's markings but I can't find anything about the manufacturer.
The tools are probably from the late 30's. To complicate matters, he was not only a cabinet maker, but was a coal miner and also did some metal work and blacksmithing.

Any chance we could see some pics of the tools your not sure what purpose they serve? Did you Google antique tools to see what you could find?

Thanks for the links. My first impression is that I won't find what I'm looking for, but I'll have to sit down some day and take more time to review them.
The tools are probably not old enough to be considered antiiques.
I didn't want to take up SS Forum space with pictures and text about tools that may not even be for wood working.

Hey, why not. That is sort of what we are here for. Browse the forum, especially "Community". We get a lot further off topic than "old tool identification" - believe me.
Go for it.

Go to WoodNet Forums- there is a very active handtools section. I am a regular there. Welcome.jet
