In Issue 168 (Dec/Jan 08/09) there was an article about a fellow in London, Ontario that turns bowls for a living. This is what is says on page 71:
"While building an addition to his house, he tinkered whith his Shopsmith and tried using it as a lathe. "I took a slab of 2"-think walnut, and turned it into a really ugly bowl, and I thought , "That's fun," Doug says, chuckling. But he'd been bitten by the bug, and soon he began turning gifts, such as bud vases, wine stoppers, and bowls, for family and friends, slowly refining his skills."

I know the are forum members from Ontario, maybe they could contact him ask him to share some of his knowledge here.

Sincerely,
