Is anyone else waiting for their B/O jointer quad assembly p/n 502651? I have been waiting for several months and when I called SS to get an order status the gentleman said I was the 3rd person that day to inquire and he had no idea when the item would be shipped. I know there has been several discussions on the subject of made to order and just in time shipping. I am wondering if they need so many orders for this part before they make it. I have two Magna jointers and the one I use has a stripped tilt quad on the threaded casting. Luckily I have another jointer to use for spare parts. When I ordered the quad Linda said she was not sure if the new part would work with the older Magna handle and locking mechanism. Has anyone used a newer made Quad on a Magna era jointer?-----Are they compatible? Thanks-------Dave

Hi Dave,

Hang in there on back-orders. I suspect you are right that a certain 'critical mass' of demand has to be built up before they make/ship the things. I just got in some parts this week that I had ordered about 3 months ago.

Regarding the Jointer's Quadrant, all I can report is that about 1 yr ago I restored a late 1950s Magna jointer (for a friend) at the same 3-week period when my brand-new Shopsmith Jointer came in. I think functionally the quadrant area of each was identical. I would not expect problems using new parts on old machines. By the way my new-machine's quadrant "miter stop screws" had to be turned pretty close to their ends-of-travel to deliver the exact angles of 90, 45, etc. Perhaps this indicates the metal casting has some production variations in dimensions.

Thanks for the reply Chris. Its nice to have so many other guys out there with the Magna era equipment to bounce things off of. I was hoping to get more replies from others who are waiting for the quadrant also to get some idea as to how many are on B/O. Being as tho the quad is one of the 17 most ordered parts I would think the lead time would be better. Just glad I had a back up part otherwise my jointer would be out of business.------Dave

I have a quadrant on BO but I only ordered it around a month ago.
I didn't end up needing it but I'll take it as a spare, since it can be one of the most ordered parts and I can be one of the biggest bumblers that might just end up needing the part.:o

New quadrant has been received and works with the old Magna jointer perfectly. "Good things come to those who wait":D -----Dave
