I have seen that on some table saws the table insert, that the saw blade exits, has some way of adjustment so it is flush with the top of the table. On my 520 I have been tightening the rear screw tight which causes the insert to rise above the table at the front. I then tighten the front screw til it is flush with the front of the insert opening. Issue arises when say ripping a rabbet in a narrow and short piece where the rabbet will end up being cut deeper at the end than at the beginning especially when pushing down with a push stick. I would like to see the insert in a level plane with the table top. Advise.

The metal Shopsmith insert is "coined" (that is the word SS uses) which means it has a slight bend in it. My manual says to adjust the rear screw until the insert is level with the table in the rear, then adjust the front screw. You may have to go between the two screws to get this perfect but on my SS I can level my insert perfectly with the table.
