Hi,

I have a couple of items in my 2009 budget dealing with lathe work. This is one of the items I have been eyeing up:
http://www.woodturnerscatalog.com/store/New_Products___Easy_Rougher___easy_rougher?Args=

They have a shot video of it in action and it looks mighty good in the video but I was wondering if anyone owns one or has a other comments on it.

WOW! Never would I be able to rough out a bowl as fast as that thing cuts using just a gouge!

It has just been added to my wish list for this year. Thanks for sharing this find. I get their catalog and visit the web site fairly often but I missed this one.

Seems a little high in price just for a sharp bowl gouge.

Hi, I have one and it is worth the money. I tried to rough out one log with the big gouge and all i got was catches and tear out. so i quit trying. This Christmas my boys bought me a Ci1 and wow i made two bowl out of a log in no time at all. the only thing you do spend a lot of time cleanning up all the saw dust it creates. seems like i spend more time cleanning then turning. OH well at least i am turnig logs. Before i was confined to the ring master and boards now i do both. You have to relize i only have 4 four turning tools to my name. one Ci1, small bowl gouge, parting tool, one large gouge. also i have one home made scraper/squew. Get it and wow you will be impressede. remember it is a rougher not a finish tool. it will do a fair job with light cutson some woods.

Thanks for the preview/review. You got some great boys, knowing what to get you for Christmas.

Last time I looked they were out of stock which is OK since I've got another 2 months or so of "too cold in the shop" time anyway.

Watching the video, it was amazing at how fast it cut and the stream of shavings/chips that flew from the cutter. Thanks for the link.
