Any of you familiar with this unit and know it's pros and cons?

Yes, I owned the fixed base model. Great router. I see Lowes has it on sale with the plunge kit for $99 right now. Great price. I paid $169 for the fixed by itself. I currently have the fixed base mounted in my router table.

I use one in my router table and really enjoy the fact that you can adjust the depth and change the router bits above the table with this model. You don't need to remove it from the table, or purchase a seperate router lift, to perform these tasks with this one (newer model).

The one I looked at when I was at Woodcraft had a lot of play in the Plunge Base. I am looking to replace a PC 890 series combo kit because of play in its plunge base so I didn't buy the freud.

My thanks to each of you that have responded.
After cooking on it for a couple days, financial constraints have tipped the scales toward a decision to get along with my old Sears for a while longer.
