How many of you that have been waiting months for a little part to be shipped has contacted SS to see what the hold up is?

As for the email special for plans when your order is late (I guess its the thought that counts), I don't see how asking you to spend even more money with a company that hasn't shipped your order yet is much of an apology (I've received this email quite often), even if the product is offered at a discount. I think they should add something extra for free in your order, depending on how much you spent, like a free Help Kit, or letting you know that they will be taking 10-15% off the cost of your order when it does finally ship, or how about saying they won't be charging you the shipping costs.

That to me would be a fair and decent apology.

This proposal would seem to be fair and equitable to me!

If you are refering to the Rip fence mount system # 555783.. Have Shopsmith check on it as I just ordered it and received it a few days ago!

I ordered one 5/22/2008 and am still waiting.

Got you beat - I'm still waiting for a BO from May 2008! It is for the feather board that mounts on top of the fence.

Cancel that order! Here's how I mounted a feather board to my 510 fence. (featherboard1.jpg) It is a piece of Mesquite (only hardwood I had handy :D ) coupla holes drilled vertically, with a pair of 5/16 elevator bolts (a few seconds on the grinder to flatten two sides so it would fit in the t-slot atop the fence) and two horizontal holes for 1/4-20 carriage bolts to attach the feather board. featherboard2.jpg shows the rear view.

Making my own window casing, needed a relief groove down the back of the 10' strips. The two featherboards were necessary to hold the pieces against the router bit (mounted below the table, in the Speed Increaser). I used the regular fence instead of the shaper fence, because I couldn't get the shaper fence close enough.

I've done something similar with the shaper fence...replacing the two wood fence pieces with a single piece of 3/4" plywood, with a dado cut across it, to hold the feather board. (Featherboard3.jpg)In this case, both feather boards were necessary to direct the piece down flat against the router bit. This time, I was routing the decorative edge of the window sills.

My BO problem is the 555937 Adjustable Stop Collar, but I've only been waiting a few weeks. So far I have passed up the "We're sorry, here are some discounted DVDs" offer.

Great idea gilamonster. Seems like a very simple solution. As they say necessity is the mother of all invention:D ----Dave

Here Here!!

Still waiting on a response for the delay. In the meantime my upper saw guard had the anti kickback prawls break off. I was contemplating order a new one from SS to try and help them, but with this and another order on a long backorder, I ended up buying a BRAND NEW one on ebay for $45 including shipping. Would have been nearly $100 if bought from SS. Oh well, I guess it is their loss.

Update - Shopsmith called me back today after leaving them a question on their web - the 2 items I have on backorder

555783 ACC-MKV520 FEATHERBOARD A
555997 TBL EXT BRKT ASM

and they told me that both are still on backorder - the featherboard for over a year (which they said they've never had anything this long on BO) and that over 80 orders on the bracket. No word yet when they come in. They are well aware of the backorder issues and the customer frustrations that go with it.

So it was reassuring after talking with them although I still wish/hope the stuff comes in sooner rather than later.
