New Shopsmither with a Goldie I recently purchased. I was playing with my jointer today and tried to switch to the beltsander but noticed the drive hub I have for the jointer does not fit the beltsander. Does anyone know what part number the hub for the beltsander would be? Thanks.....BB

BB - Welcome to the Forum!! - - Interesting question - I have no answer, except to say that to my limited knowledge all spindles on the Mark V and the accessories are the same diameter - 5/8"
Maybe you are having a rust issue? Check the inside of the tight coupler head and clean. Also remove any corrosion from the Special Purpose tool spindle.
If this doesn't work ask again.-
The hubs for the headstock have 4 grooves and the hubs for the Special Purpose Tools (SPT;s) have 5 grooves. The spring in the coupler should always face the headstock.
P.S. Here's a picture and part numbers - http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/catalog/powercoupler.htm

No rust. I went out and measured the shafts. My jigsaw and jointer have a 1/2 inch shaft and I have 1 5-grooved hub that fits both of them. My beltsander has a 5/8 inch shaft and I need to get a hub that fits that.

Hi BB,
Yes, as you have discovered, there are two different hubs (at least).
The belt sander hub is identical to the jig saw hub except for the hole for the shaft.
3233
The belt sander drive hub part number record appears to be at bit strange - I have two different manuals, in one manual the drive hub does not appear in the parts listing or exploded view. In the other manual it appears in the parts listing as 503576 but not in the exploded view. :(
However, if you go to the online parts catalog it appears in both - part 79, part number 5035769 (yes, an extra digit). But the price of .80 is probably not correct and if you do an individual part number search 5035769 doesn't come up as a good number.
Time for a call to customer service! I would think the drive hub would be available as the belt sander is still in production.
I hope this helps, :)

P.S. these come in a 'kit' 555124 with a coupler and two hubs. WHOOPS! I just look at the 'extra I had - it is a 4 spliner, wrong part - Sorry!

I believe that the two hubs supplied with the 555124 kit are both headstock spindle (4 slot) hubs, one for the upper spindle, one for the lower. Neither are the SPT (5 slot) hubs that would be needed on the belt sander.
Someone please jump in and correct me if I'm wrong on this. :)

No wonder we are confused/unsure! Pick whichever one you like(same Part #)!
This seems more exacting and more useful but doesn't include the hub needed.

Looks like we are back to wher we were a few posts back. item# 79 ($0.80????)

Looking at the Bandsaw coupler we find....item 52, 53 and the one before them (503740) whose price seems more believable.

Apparently you must order a hub as a replacement part for the spt it is to be used on.
