Thanks,

Hi,

I'm only about $399 away from owning the Fein........

I'm not in the position to buy one of these but they are really a neet tool and I wish I could get myself one. In fact I trying to figure out how I can really "need" one for some of the remodeling projects around the house. I've even tried to get one of my sons to get one so I could use it... but it looks like none of my plans are going to work.

My son got to use one for the first time yesterday so I'm waiting for a report back from him... he's helping out a friend with removing and installing a new kitchen and the guy owns one. But since my son got laid off with in the last two weeks he can't be spending money for one of these now.

I see it as a great tool for someone who is using for his or her job or as a rich persons toy. Once on a fixed income after retirement I just can justify the purchase. Keep in mind once you own the tool then you will have to replace saw blades $40 - $50 a pop, and then there are all of those other attachments.... just to much for my budget. But all that doesn't keep me from wishing I had one.

If the price is too high here is another like item priced lower. The word is the patent ran out on the Fein so copy's are starting to show up on the market.

Not to be out done here is the Harbor Freight model.

I do knot own one, but I have used one: A very interesting and versatile tool. It will allow you to work in close quarters and in tight places where you can knot usually make saw cuts.

I think that Bosch also has one of these.

Dremel just came out with a model I think it is called Multi Max.
When my son in law and I were building houses we got a Fein. Super Super Super!!!! However when I dulled the cutting blade cutting off a door jam I was shocked to find a replacement costs $45. The thing is about 2/3 of a 4 inch circle with little notches. No set, no carbide, nothing but a little notches and they wanted $45. After they got my heart started, which stopped, upon hearing the price I didn't ever view the Fein that same way again.

I checked out the Dremel it is priced around $100 and a blade is $7. I don't know how well it works but it if ran even half as good as the Fein it would make the Fein a joke.

By the way if you ever find yourself laying on the floor, with your shirt torn open and hear someone say "Clear" either jump up real quick or be prepared to embarass yourself when you wet your pants  Dang that hurts!!!! Couldn't see straight for a week! Son in law couldn't say for sure when my eyes crossed, either when I heard the price, when I hit the floor, or when they defibatored me. All I know is they were crossed for a week
