Hi,

Shopsmith use to sell a 1/4" hss dovetail bit using the AK-2030 part number. It is no longer listed under that part number and may not be assigned a newer number....

Anyway I am looking for some infomation on the bit, either a replacement that someone has found or a reference to another companies bit(s) or maybe an old catalog with the geometry of the bit listed.... (document that references this bit is from 1990)

My guess is it was a 7.5 deg and cutter height of 5/16" but that is only because of what bits I have in my collection...

Anyone, anyone at all???

Ed

I have a Fall 1992 Woodworking Unlimited catalog that lists this bit but unfortunately all it says is ...1/4" Double-Edge Dovetail Bit......$5.00. I may very well have this bit in my router bit collection but I just have to ask what it is about this particular bit you are so fascinated with?
Sarge.

Hi,

I have a Joint Matic (shopsmith version from 1992) with a manual dated 6/90. Of the collection of bits they have listed some are straight bits and just normal everyday router bits. However the three dovetail bits that are listed don't go in to any detail except part numbers. Two of the three parts are still listed as shopsmith parts and I was able to translate them in to bits I have in my collection. The remaining bit is the one in question....

The angle and cutter height are the missing information and as I mentioned I have at least some hope it is a 7.5 deg and 5/16" cutter height as that is a bit in my collection...... however in looking at catalogs you can get other sizes and while the one I have is the more common standard bit now it might not have been that way back in 1990.
