Scored a big win today, picked up a 1979 SS with planer, joiner, 6" belt sander, drum sander, full set of lathe tools, two drill chucks, dado set, shaper, etc, etc, for $100! Found it on Craigslist, ad listed the accessories and that the unit did not run. After getting it home, pulled the cover off and spotted a broken control sheave assembly. Also going to need the quill feed spring housing replaced as the quill doesn't retract or extend. Couple of simple repairs, time to hunt for parts.

Here are a few pics:

No doubt! While I was taking it apart to fit in the back of my car, another guy showed up ready to buy. The seller had left his address on CL, but no phone number. I did a "reverse lookup" on the address and found a phone number that I left a message on last night. Seller told me that was why I was called first, that he had a bunch of emails (and was surprised by the responses!). Haven't fired up the accessories yet to make sure they work, will have to wait until I get the repairs complete.

Sometimes even a blind, ugly dog finds a bone!

WOW! Load it up quickly INDEED. Did it come with the tie rod end off or did you do that b4 taking pix?

Just saw the next post. Assume tie rod taken loose to 'get it in the car'.

Yep. Pics were taken back in my garage, wanted to set it up to take these photos. Headstock came right back off after the shots to see what the problems were.

Sellers are always amazed when I pull up in a Toyota to purchase. 9/16" socket and the hex key and apart that baby comes!
