There are so many threads to search through, I'm not sure where to start. But where does one find a thread about basic nuts and bolt inspecion and simple repair tips?
If not, this would be a great place to start one...
Basically: Say Hypothetically a guy just got a some what rusty old SS Mark V that runs, but is in rough shape. This guy is new to SS....what should he do..
Thanks...hopefully a thread already exists...

The first thing I would suggest you do is locate the appropriate manual for the model Mark V that you have and become very, very familiar with its content.
Then, I would suggest you spend a lot of time becoming equally familiar with the "Sawdust Sessions". Go here and Browse"

Stay in touch with the folks here on the forum. Together we'll have you running a machine that purrs like a kitten.
You must not be talking about the "Goldie" you have pictured in your profile. That one doesn't look like a rusty old Mark V.

Go to the Sawdust Sessions dealing with re-building a Mark V. ("re-born") Sessions 21,22,23 and 24. http://www.shopsmithacademy.com/Sawdust_Sessions.htm
Right now the videos are not working for me, but I guess they are for some folks.

Great....I don't have my manuel, but I've got 2 versions of the book "Power Tool Woodworking for Everyone"
I'll download my manuel...
I bought two 1962 Goldie's (1 1/8HP) in the past 3 weeks. One works and looks like new, the other not so much, so I'm gonna be spending a lot of time both online, in the books, and in the shop. I can't wait!!
