This topic was discussed at length back in 2008, but I wanted to bring it up again to see if anyone else has ordered online and noticed that the "sales tax" field had "0.00" in it. Has Shopsmith quit charging sales tax because they no longer have demos, classes, etc?

Thanks Bob, I've still got the Strip Sander on backorder. We'll have to see if they still charge tax on that when it gets shipped...

I placed an order a short while ago and when I first checked the status the total bill with sales tax was about $107.00. I checked it again, yesterday, and the bill was less than $100; the tax had been changed to $0.00.
I haven't received it yet and I have not been charged but maybe Shopsmith is no longer charging sales tax. We'll have to wait and see.
Then we'll have to learn whether or not we, as purchasers, are obligated for the tax? When/ how is it supposed to be declared? - paid?

Here in KY there is a line item for 'unpaid sales tax' on our income tax forms.:(

I think the big question becomes: What did I buy that requires me to pay sales tax? Is everything I buy taxable or only those items purchased in Arizona?
These questions don't really require an answer here. I'll let my tax man figure this out but it makes for interesting discussion.
NO DEBATE, PLEASE. JUST DISCUSSION!:rolleyes::)

Oklahoma also has what they call a use tax which is where you are supposed to show the amount of purchase you made outside Oklahoma for use in Oklahoma. It is a hard tax to follow for the state it really is an honarary (sp) type of thing. I have not had to claim anything because more of my out of state purchase where with Shopsmith which they paid after I paid. Shoot now I will have to keep an eye on this and remember for next years taxes. Thank you for the update I may have never noticed it. I still have a miter gauge extension on backorder.
