Today I made a short trip and purchased a 2005 50th anniversary edition 510. This little jewel is complete including a band saw that looks as it has seldom been used. The history of my new jewell gives me the impression it may have been used a couple of times a year until two years ago when the original owner gifted it to his daughter and son in law. They had problems setting it up and parked it in the corner. I will begin tomorrow cleaning and lubricating before testing to see if it runs. It has little or no wax on tables or tubes yet showns no rust. It truly looks as though it is brand new. The band saw will likley be sold as I have no use for a second one. I am still a bit uncertain if I will adapt the 510 to become a dedicated OPR stand or set up my Incra TSIII on it it. Either way tis a nice gift to give myself three days before I have my shoulder surgery, other than lubrication and cleaning I will do little more than admire it for a month or three. fjim:)

It sounds like it must have been parked in a nice dry location.
Two of my brother-in-laws had shoulder repairs recently and both were quite happy with the results.

Take care and heal well. When the time comes I'm sure that you will enjoy that second Shopsmith.

Many thanks to all for the kind wishes. This is the second round for repairing the same shoulder in two years. Te surgeon has been carful to warn me he uncertain haow much he can help me. I have had at least three injures over the years. Thus I am rather nervous about this procedure.

I couldn't stay away from the new jewell. I spent time doing some cleaning and checking the headstock. It is clean both inside and out. Tomorrow I hope to complete lubrication and fire it up. I found a record in the book for a "Tune up" which was done less than two years ago. From what I can tell whoever did it knew their stuff. So far I have discovered a few missing parts. The most notable being one of the accessory mount lock assemblies, that part set I will need to order. The 5 foot connector tubes and extension legs. Both of which I purchased an extra set of a couple of years. The saw blade is really dirty a good cleaning may help. I am uncertain if I will have it sharpened or replace it.

Pictures you bet. Hopefully tomorrow afternoon. For now some pain meds and rest. Thanks again for the prayers and kind wishes. fjimp
