Matt,
If misery enjoys company, may I join you, please.
I do have a similar problem developing with one of my bandsaws. The trunnion support is suppose to hold the heads of the two bolts so that they can not turn. The support is some sort of plastic or phenolic. You can see from the photos I have attached what is happening to mine. The bolt head has turned slightly.

DUSTY: 515013[38] Plastic. Been there done that. I would think it a common problem. Fortunately it is inexpensive. Relatively easy to replace(back bolt can be onerous to get loose). The back nut is a nylock nut and is almost impossible to remove without breaking the other [38]. So, I recommend ordering TWO of them.;)

Matt;
If your band saw uses the same trunnions (515013), you might want to consider incorporating the trunnion supports into yours. A quick call to customer service (1-800-543-7586) will tell you whether or not this is possible.
I'm thinking that the trunnion supports might be some sort of upgrade. Some additional hardware would be required but it might be worthwhile. Timing is right with the parts sale going on.

Dusty - thanks for the pictures, I think that helps solve the mystery. Looking between the current parts diagram on the SS site and the one I have from my 82 Owner's Manual, the trunnions and bushings are the same. However, it appears SS upgraded and took off the "wing bolts" and replaced with hex bolts and the trunnion supports on each side. Shame they are plastic, as your picture shows what will happen if over-torqued. In my shopping cart on the SS site is a pair of these supports - two for $5.32 instead too bad.
Thanks again for taking the time to post the pictures. Huge help!

I will have the same (and maybe some more) added to my cart today. I have removed the table from my bandsaw and have found that my trunnion supports are also damaged. As you have said, probably from over tightening.
I better check the other bandsaw before I place this order. :eek: I would be ticked if I did not and found that I need two pair and have to pay extra shipping.
Thanks for the insight. I would not have noticed until I was out of commission had you not posted.:)

I have ordered repair parts again. Some for now just in case I need them. Well, some of what I ordered are not repair parts. They are items I want in the shop just in case I need them - like t-nuts.
But the order was actually prompted by this thread. I discovered that I had a pair of band saw trunnion supports that were cracked. I did a bit of kludge repair (using a tie wrap and a bit of plastic adhesive) and put the band saw back in service but I ordered repair parts as well.
Some photos of what I did to get it back in service. This is NOT a recommended procedure.
