The old catalog in which I stumbled onto it referred to it as: Dial Set-Up Gauge.
BTW I was referring to my 'thinking' as NON linear!
I disagree with your second statement. Methinks you do many things in a linear fashion.
Guess I don't know linear from non-linear but that is okay. I'm not going back to school to learn.
My last experience with linear (and I don't want to repeat it) was "linear programming". It is much easier to be totally random.

Apologizes for all the confusion.
The PN is 521097 and it is called a setup & alignment gauge. It is a 3" long plate of aluminum with a 90 degree lip at one end.
It cost $3.47 and when ordering a saw arbor I though why not the shipping will be the same anyway...
The thought of it replacing the allen wrench came from laying this flat on the saw table and runing the sanding disc round to see where the high spot was.
Does that help you guys? I hope so sorry for the unclear first post.

The part number is for the setup gauge for aligning the front and rear rails on the 520 tables.

Nope, we were all wrong. The setup gauge (521097) is used to align the 520 rails to the 520 table.
Check out the following thread. I think it will answer your questions.
