I recently developed a new computer issue - All suggestions will be read and appreciated!

Several weeks ago, I don't know exactly when I found I was no longer able to view any of the Shopsmith videos. No videos in the Sawdust Sessions and the Tips. I can open the pages to the individual videos, and can view the blackboards, and download (if wanted) any/all of the PDFs.

It's the videos themselves! they are blank/white and have a small square symbol in the upper left hand corner. (google, I think)

I can view any and all other videos available on the web. It is only the Shopsmith videos I can't view. Actually they are the most valuable to me!

The videos used to work just fine. I think what happened is; in my sloppy typing I accidentally hit a combination of keys ( like ctrl/delete, or Fn/**) that has turned off these particular videos.

So far, I have updated to the latest Microsoft Windows XP updates and downloaded Internet Explorer 8 and Adobe 9, Added a new user to see if he could view those videos, and conversed with ADMIN. Nothing yet has helped.

Any suggestions, even if they are referrals to someone else would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I feel for you, Charlese. I view these a lot and I can imagine the frustration. You said you see a symbol that you think is something google. That has me wondering because I no longer see any evidence of google in the videos. I see something called blip.tv where it would have been google. I have attached a screen shot of Session #23 as an aid for discussion. Well, I thought I was. All of a sudden I cannot do that. The entire area around this post is grayed out. I can't add smileys, bold test, any of that. Time to reboot.

OKAY we'll try this again.

A screen shot of Sawdust Session #22.

You can't read this a well as I had hoped but what I was referring to is the text in the white bar below the video frame.

Dusty, SS used google thru session #20 then used blip.tv after that. Don't remember the reason for the change.

Have you tried using another browser?

DON'T scare me like that Chuck. I HAD to go and see if they still work for me, and they do.

See how your Adobe Flash player is working. Right click where the sawdust session video should be and you should get a menu in which one of the selections refers to "About Adobe Flash player". Select that and it will bring you out to the Adobe site

http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

If your flash player is working correctly, you should see an animation telling you that it is installed successfully.

On that page is also a link to a troubleshoot area.

Start here and see if it helps.

p.s. My flash player is at version 10 but I have Vista

Sorry! Didn't mean to scare anyone! Everyone else is still able to view the videos. There is some type of switch I inadvertently turned off - somehow.

Thanks for the recommendation, Mike! I sat up and tried all kinds of compatibility configurations last night, to no avail.

This afternoon I will phone Adobe Flash and talk with them. At this point don't think they will be be to help, but worth a try!
