Did your computer (or DVD drive if it was added later) come with DVD player software? Can you play other DVDs?

I have been able to play other discs like my wife's sewing and embroidery cd's but these won't play. Windows media player self starts and then the message about the DVD player not being compatible pops up in the middle of the Media Player screen.

Do you HAVE a DVD player? CD's and DVD'S take different drive's to play them.

Beeg;
Yes I do have a DVD player and a CD burner. The pop up message appears when I try to run SS DVD's. I have run other DVD's in the past. Is there a new encoding on the DVD's that are produced today that requires a special decoding program?
I have installed the latest from Microsoft but no improvement. I thought that Media Player 11 would play just about anything.

I use a personal dvd player when I use mine rather than a computer. that way I can play and refer to them when I am in the workshop. Plus, dvd players are easier to replace than a computer. I would like to suggest checking out either, Wally World, Best Buy, or Radio Shack for the best deals.

I've had problems in the past if DVD's not running on my PC DVD player until I manually started the DVD playing from the software rather than use the autoplay feature.
