Last weekend, as I said earlier, was a machine shop type of adventure rather than a woodworking type. I already miss the wood dust.

1st the stripped threads in the speed control, then the retractable casters that fell apart, then my diesel motorhome had a air lock in the fuel system and wouldn't start. Had to bleed all the air out. Then found a crack in the exhaust manifold. Found a mechanic that will replace it next week.

Had other issues with the Gates drive belt I've used since last Summer. Will post more as soon as I take some appropriate photos. Also have work to calming down my rhetoric a bit so we don't lose the message.

Chuck,
Sure do hope things start clearing up on your end. It is a bummer when we have those down days. But in my opinion enough is enough for you. :(

Sound like a good week to me Chuck. Weird, but good. You woke up everyday, had something to do, had the brains, energy, and motivation to get stuff fixed, you broadened your knowledge base trying new things, AND you even had a chance to share it with us folk :D . We enjoyed hearing about your adventures. Makes us feel like we're not the only ones who weird stuff happen. Now go make some sawdust. Thanks for sharing.

Chuck:

Glad to see another "Blog"

Mine has been missing for months now mainly because I haven't been doing much in the way of woodworking, or anything else resembling it. Got into a bit of a "funk" after the rush up to Christmas and couldn't bear to look at the mess in the shop, or to get in and clean it up. The SS needs some TLC also.

I finally had to get off my butt recently to expose about 16 inches of basement floor around two walls of the playroom. I had a leaking problem and contracted to have an interior type of drain in the floor that leads to the sump pump. Of course this neccessitated buying a reciprocating saw to cut through studs and nails in the subfloor framing.:D Now waiting for sufficient rain to see if this works.

I did manage to get into the shop last week to make some small bases for hockey pucks that I dressed up a bit to use as awards ;) for our end of season party. I also finally finished working on a small container that my late friend had started on the lathe before he became too ill. Sanded it, made a lid, and applied a finish. I believe his wife will use it as a keepsake with a small amount of his ashes.

Now that the snow has melted, there is be major work awaiting me in rebuilding a good portion of the garden swing and a bench. That may get me back to blogging.

In the meantime, Have Fun and be Safe!

John

Well Chuck. It seems your adventures went a little better than mine today. While sanding, the bolt that holds the DC3300 impeller to the motor snapped off. STILL trying to get the broken piece out.

That's awful!!!:( Have you separated the blower housing and removed the fan? If my memory has any circuits still working, that screw goes into the motor shaft. (fan held from rotating by a key in that shaft)

Hopefully When apart, there will be enough screw sticking out of the shaft to get a vice grip on.

Yep I have it apart and the bolt broke off short of the end of the motor shaft. I did drill a hole down through it, BUT the easy-out I NEED. Was broken off in a brake caliper YEARS ago.
