Thanks jpg40504. Did not know about the differences. Mine are the newer ones with studs and nuts so thats what I will look for.

Great idea! I've got an extra 500 table and carriage (from a small box of old Greenie parts that were given to me - unfortunately there's no Greenie to put them on). And, I've been contemplating ideas for a router table. This gives me another one to consider. Since the 500 table doesn't have rails, I'd have to figure out another means of mounting it somewhere. But it might be an idea worth pursuing.

I'll be real interested in what you come up with. I bought a grab-bag of Shopsmith parts on ebay this week in order to get a bandsaw and ringmaster, and a beat up 500 table was part of the deal. A router table is the one tool I feel I "need" that I'm lacking, so I hope you come up with an award-winning design!

I hope you like the ringmaster. I really like mine.

heathicus, if you can use a set of table tubes for a 510 let me know and you can have them for shipping. I already used one set to make a router table for my 510 and the 520 deal I got last week has one for it. just let me know and the table tubes are yours.

Thanks for this post, Ed. When I acquired my second SS, the man had an additional main table that he said was not square. I just tossed it in a corner wondering if I should just recycle the metal. So, the new recycling project is going to make it into a router table. Rather than go your route, I think that I'll try to make a receptable to insert a router plate first. Then with the legs, I can just set it on the carriage and have a router table. What a terrific idea!
