Hi,

Just got an email:
"Don't forget, this weekend ONLY Mar. 23, 24 and 25 take 20% OFF any one item at your local Rockler Woodworking and Hardware store!"

If one wanted to get a set this might be the time... if this is not just a local thing to the Chicago land area.

I thought these Rockler Power Bore drill bits looked nice and wondered if anyone had tried them or could offer any feedback on Rockler tools in general. Thanks - Alec

I have been buying things from Rockler for several years now and have been very satisfied with there products. I got this add as well, but have not ever used this particular bit. All items I have purchased from them have always worked as advertised.

I missed the discount deadline, but ordered a set last night. I'll post a report after I do some drilling. Thanks for the feedback! Alec

UPDATE: The bits arrived and they are very nice. They do indeed bore to full depth without requiring backing out to clear chips. The quality seems very good and their sharp! I'm pleased. Alec

I bought these a few weeks ago with the 20% off deal. Used them to
do counterbores in oak and found them to be on par with a good forstner
bit for a flat bottom hole. There is no burning that one would get with the
forstner bit and the chips are removed cleanly as Alec states. I'm happy
with them but would not pay full price for the set.

I also bought a set on sale and after using a couple of times, I like them. They make clean holes very quickly. I did notice that after boring some holes for screw plugs, that some of the chips stuck in the bottom of the hole. I just use a screwdriver to scrape them loose and vacuumed them out.
