My guess is that there are several ways people enter the site. Just to get this rolling when I click I have set the browser to enter as shown:
http://www.shopsmith.net/forums/search.htm?do=getnew
That way I'm seeing the new "stuff" right away.
So how do you enter?

I get in by going to shopsmith.com via the personal page.

The forum home page is set as a default so that I am brought direct to the forum whenever I log onto the web. In other words, I am here unless I deliberately chose to go elsewhere.

I use google - so, go to favorites then go to the file of "Wood Shop Stuff, then under that heading, "Shopsmith Stuff" - then below that, find the forum and click on the arrow. Up comes a new tab withe the Forum.

I just click on the SS icon that is on my "desktop". That brings me to my "personlized owners page" and then I use the link there to access these forums.

The icon on my desktop takes me here:
http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/index.htm
From here I can review all email specials, other sales, catalogues, etc. Then I usually click directly on the forum. Sometimes I will go to my personalized home page and from there to the forum. John McCrossen

I've got a bookmark (one of several for ShopSmith) that takes directly to the forum's main page. On there, I simply move the cursor over each of the fourms I am interested in (usually all of them) and click the center wheel on my mouse - I use Firefox and that opens the selected page in a new tab.
Then I go to each tab and again move the cursor over anything that seems interesting and again click my wheel. This again opens the selected subject in a new tab.
Now I start reading each tab from left to right, closing each as I go along. Until I'm done.

This is my bookmark:
http://www.shopsmith.net/forums/search.htm?do=getnew
It shows me all new posts since the last time I was in the site. It is problematic to get it into the favorites however, but it is worth the effort. The reason it is problematic is that once it runs the address becomes a search id with some kind of numeric value. If you bookmark the page that opens, you end up bookmarking the wrong value. You need to manually add the bookmark above into your list of bookmarks to get it to work correct.
Now, here is the beauty of this approach; I then click the little down arrow to the left of the thread name, which takes me to the first post since I last visited that thread. Actually, I control click a bunch of down arrows, each next to a thread I would like to read, so they each open in background tabs. Then I close the open tab (the search) and read the next tab that appears, close and read, close and read until I am done.
