Always thought this helped, but today proved it. My stand alone shop building (16'X20') is on the back of my lot. Sitting here in the hot desert sun, I thought to put a vent on the roof. These are sold at Home Depot - brand is Whirligig. It has the ball bearing spinning blades on the top. I did this for heat relief in the summer, but later thought it may help in exhausting those micro dust particles - You Know - the kind that gets in your lungs and are damaging.
Today, we had a stiff wind and I thought I would see if the Whirligig did, in fact pull air our of the shop. I put a piece of corrugated cardboard over the 10" circular opening in the shop ceiling and it sucked up there like being pulled by a big vacuum.. It stayed there all day long.
If you have a shop that you can put one of these things on - It's sure enough a good micro dust extractor.
