A brief search suggests Dusty has been missing for a few days. Is anyone aware whether he is on vacation? Life just isn't the same without Dusty's input. Fjimp

Tucson's getting a mite warm. Maybe he escaped to a cooler clime. Hope he did and will check in soon.

We will never know when he is lurking - Dusty has become invisible!

Kinda like the old radio show "The Shadow" He has learned the secret of how to cloud men's minds so they cannot see him!

Nope, I was not lurking and I am not invisible though I do find that to be an interesting feature of the forum. I have simply removed myself from the fray.

I found myself involved in verbal debate that I do not believe was healthy for myself nor was it healthy for the forum. My future participation will be quite different than it has been in the past.:)

My personal objective: Remember that this is a wood working forum and NOT a social/political/economic platform. Except for wood working, I will keep most of my opinions to myself.

PLEASE do NOT refrain from continuing your most positive contributions to the forum.

The title on the top of the page DOES say 'woodworking forum'; it also says shopsmith. One cannot do woodworking(hand carving excepted) without some power tools which a shopsmith IS!

Any threads which aid the use or show a new way to use it IS 'woodworking'.

Debate IS healthy IF done HONESTLY and with an open mind and with a positive goal pursued!

Reading Dusty's feelings I feel a state of loss. Our world today is clearly moving headlong into a state of destructive behavior. I pray daily that somehow we could all refrain from attacking or reacting in any fashion that could hurt an others feelings. If ever I am even the least bit offensive I pray that I can be forgiven. Reacting to another in an inappropriate way is the part of being human that I detest in myself the most. Dusty you are as important to this forum as any single member in fact in my mind provide more value than I could ever dream of. I sincerely hope the past can be forgiven, forgotten and that we can all move ahead in a civil, feeling manner. fjimp

Whoops! Yesterday evening, when I went to Dusty's profile, I could find No date of his last activity in the forum. I assumed at that time he was invisible. Hmmmm! You know what they say about assumptions.

Well, that date is back in tonight! So, All's well!

EDIT: And by the way - I agree - anytime we get into an uncomfortable conversation here on the forum - it's time to just read and not post more in that thread.
