Anyone have experience with using the Ringmaster? I'm considering purchase of one for my wife to use on my 520 or possibly a new power stand.

I have a ShopSmith mount ring master. It is a realy easy tool to learn and use. Within hours of having it I made this out of a peice of 2X4

Then I tried some exotic woods

I am happy with the results I get but I am no artist. There are user groups for the ringmaster and you can see some fantastic work that people are doing with this tool.
My point is that it is a very easy tool to learn but that in no way means it has been mastered.
By the way this is what it looked like after TLOML got done with it.

I got to thinking about that first piece and thought it was bigger than a 2X4. I found it and a candy dish I made of padouk too.

As you can see the pine pot is over 5 inches across so it started life as a 2X6 not a 2X4. Sorry.
The padouk bowls shows how the grain can be lined up to look like a traditional turning.
Hope this helps

Hi,
I too have a ringmaster, got it used this spring but I haven't had time to do much with it yet.
Other then enjoying Mike's presentation (thanks for the pictures, I still might get around to making somethings yet.) I wanted to mention that the shopsmith version of this tool mounts to the tubes of the shopsmith. I'm not so sure how easy it would be to mount on a power stand but it something to think about.
So far I've made some circles with it. Found it worked well for that but I hope to expand to a simple bowl soon... got the wood and the tool now all I need is some time to do it.

I have the SS version. Never been mounted. Scared to get started on something different than I've been doing. Might get to like it too much.:D

Thanks for the info about mounting on the tubes. Guess I just lost the excuse I was using to buy a SS power station :(

There are a few videos of the ringmaster on shopsmithacademy. Here is a link to one of them.
