I went to HD website for the paste wax. It wasn't listed. Where is a good place to get it (besides SS)? Will any brand of paste wax work (i.e. carnauba, turtle, etc.)?

Johnson's Original Paste Wax UPC 46500 00202 ! Accept NO substitutes!(trewax excepted). The OLD TIMEY stuff is what works! Hence 'Original formula' is to be sought out. The last time I bought a can was either at Lowe's or Home Depot, but I think it WAS Home Depot. Do NOT get the kind that is NOT 'original formula' in the paint department that is intended for finished wood waxing. Good Luck!

BTW it is in a yellow can with a red stripe.

HERE it IS!!!!! http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?jspStoreDir=hdus&catalogId=10053&productId=100154748&navFlow=3&keyword=ohnson%2Bpaste%2Bwax&langId=-1&searchRedirect=ohnson+paste+wax&storeId=10051&endecaDataBean=com.homedepot.sa.el.wc.catalog.bean s.EndecaDataBean%4071a5a3d6&ddkey=THDStoreFinder

At the risk of beating a dead horse: you can find Johnson's Original Paste Wax at nearly all grocery stores (at least here in TX). Look in the cleaning products aisle. Even our small local grocery has several cans of it all the time. (We have NO major chain grocery stores although we are supposed to get one this winter - probably in Dec. or Jan. next year).

Could be interesting to see if the 'major chain grocery store' will carry it!;) KROGER here does NOT!

I was once a newbie like you and had a lot of questions, too. It's good there are forums like this nowadays. When I started in my profession, I had to go to the office or shops of woodworkers to have my questions answered.

Hi, Andy! Sure could have used your experience as I was making shutters. Just my Shopsmith, my router, some poplar and some trials.
