I just walked in from finishing the rewire on my shop!! Right down to the last detail. ( With help from 2 former students!) Final inspection on Monday, a good cleaning, some rearranging of tools to their new outlets, and a good maintainance run thru and I will be back at a long over due project. As with many of my projects, it took a few "unexpected turns" that made for a lot of work and added expense, but everything I needed to do is done and I can run the SS and dust collection at the same time with both under a load. And I can see! nice new lights :) .
Just for fun, I showed both of these guys the shop. One is a wood worker and he fell in love with the SS. He knew about them, but had never seen one. The other, who did the replacement of the box on the house had never seen one and was totally blown away. Both are so busy making a living right now that they may not do much wood working, but both have been inoculated with the SS virus and my guess is it will develop into a full blown fever at some point. There is something about seeing the thing change that just grabs tool guys! They did not heart about the new headstock either.
How about some PICS of the rewired shop??????????

Here are 4 rewire pics. I got some of the materials at Habitat for Humanity store. I recycled some old lights from a rental remodel We did several years ago. I recycled some switches and other parts. The overhead light is new and the box and breakers are as well. I hired out the new 200 amp upgrade to the house box and did most of the rest myself with "direction" from a former student. All together it cost me about $1800, about 1/2 the cost of a "full retail" job. Plenty of room for growth in the new box, although 1 breaker is reserved for LOML's Rabbit barn. She needs new lights as well.
I used clad wire because I had paneled then walls and did not want to pull them down to add the new stuff. Overhead boxes were an idea from a thread on the forum that showed up in another book I found. I will see how those work. Not real pretty, but Everything worked the first time we put power to it. That does not always happen when I get out of my comfort zone. :o
I now have lights outside the shop as well.
( the 4x3 in the names are the result of having to repeatedly reduce the pics to get them to upload??)

You don't have to change the image size to get it to upload. Just change the pixels per inch to something like 640 x 480 and they will still be large pics only the file size will be smaller.

I guess I didn't mean change the size, I did reduce everything to 800x600 and they would not upload. I dropped the quality to medium and still no luck. When I went to 400x300 at medium quality, I got them to work. The 800x 600 were at the max, but well under the 1.9 M limit. I have had trouble getting things uploaded in the past, and I think it may have something to do with my camera. ( or it could be me, I don't do this often) Thanks for the thought.

What do you mean by "clad wire"? From your pictures, it looks like you used wire that has an insulation jacket surrounding the already insulated individual wires, AKA "Romex" type wire. If that is what you used, your electrical system will work fine, and you should knot have any issues, but your new wiring will knot pass an inspection. Any exposed wiring, like yours, is required to be "covered", i.e., put inside conduit or behind a "wall". At this point, to make it "legal" without tearing it all out, you could build little tunnels over the exposed wire. Did you pull a permit and are you going to call for an inspection? If so, be prepared to do some modifications. Also, on a side note: If you use Romex type wire, you MUST KNOT put it into conduit, due to heat issues. Exposed wire should be inside conduit and should be all individually insulated (except the ground wire) single wires. The code for such wire is THHN. If this is some other kind of wire, that is legal to be exposed like it is, I wood be very interested to learn more about it. Please, educate me!!!

Nice job on the rewire. I am about to start a resetting of my shop and will have to do a lot of the same. It is almost overwhelming when I think of what I want to do but will just take it a step at the time. My biggest obstacle is that I cant just shut down, but with thing being so slow now,it is a good time to do it.

Yep thats an older sears router table. I just salvaged a second router for the thing. It and router #1 was a gift from a "starving "daughter in college, so I have tried to keep it going. It actually works pretty well if you don't try to go to fast.
I am not an electrical guy, so I probably called the wire something other than the correct name. The wire is as you say individual wires but inside a flexible metal tube. (name??) I had it inspected when I did the underground and it was deemed "ok". My only real issue with the inspection was that he wanted me to put more outlets in on the wall where I have my storage! He let me "slide" a bit on that, As you say, Romex will not pass, and without some advice, I probably would have made that error. I got this at Habitiat, but it is available at mylocal Ace Hardware, I will try to get the real name. Hope we can still visit later.
