Strip sander - grinding metal - DC3300

Yesterday, I decided to use my strip sander to sharpen the mowing blades on my lawn tractor. I considered using the DC3300 to collect the filings but decided against it. I was concerned about the possibility of starting a fire or maybe damaging the dust collector itself.

What's the concensus on using the DC3300 when grinding metal?

As I mentioned yesterday in another thread, I just received the chisel sharpening attachment for my strip sander yesterday. The kit came with this nice warning label that I think covers your question...
