Has anyone ever used a sanding glove? Remember reading a review on it a while back. The review went on to say that they really help arthritis and carpal tunnel suffers. Klingspore sells them for about $20. Thanks in advance.

I must say I have never heard of a sanding glove, but if they would help with arthritis I think I should have one. Any Idea where to purchase one of these items? I seem to have arthritis in both my thumbs and it just t'aint fun at all.

Hi,

I have had some personal experience with these so I'll leave a couple of quick comments.

I purchased a set of these (made of leather) sometime ago, I don't recall where from or $$. They were less then wonderful. The fingers tips were open, thus the seams between fingers along with collected sawdust, and the vibration that was transmitted cause the area between my fingers to get raw. This turned out to be worse the the original issue that I got the gloves for.

I later picked up another pair with a stretchy glove part and leather palm/pad area. I have chubby fingers and the gloves were so tight that they were uncomfortable in the finger area. Not sure it was just not the right size or what???

I happened to meet a guy who polishes airplanes and we got to talking about how he was holding up doing that as he wasn't all that much younger then I am and I know I could never stand and do that for hours on end. One of the things he mentioned was these sanding gloves... as it turned out he said to go to a bike shop and pick them up there, as riding gloves....

So that is another option for you. I would say for sure to go to a store and try them on... at least for me the mail order route never worked out. As far as how much better they are in use, some what better but it is not like night and day. Maybe I can go an extra few minutes at a time and maybe a few more sessions during the day but it is not like it makes you young again.

I might give them a try as well. Gives me an excuse to head over to the local Rockler store.

Thanks for the info.

Buying one from Rockler is a great idea. I work for Dynabrade and we source the Dynamit to Rockler. It was an idea of our owner after talking to some turners.

Thanks for letting me know. I'll sneak over there as soon as the wife give me my allowance.
