Hi Papa!

This has been discussed in several posts earlier but I couldn't find them. So here is what I do/did.
--Slide the headstock to the left about 10 inches from the base arm (part no. 24, 518381) - slide the saw table and carriage about 1/3 to 1/2 the way from the right end -
-- Place a 2X4 or 2X6 under the carriage (last time I used two 3/4" oak boards - they were handy) - Loosen the set screws that hold the way tubes in the base arm
-- Lower the saw table until the tubes hit your 2X4. Lifting some on the way tubes, lower the table until there is about 12 inches clearance for the headstock to slide off.
-- Remove the base arm and slide the headstock off.
-- Putting one back on is the reverse of this.

Best wishes on your speed adjustment! If it is running up to fast and fast is indicated on the knob then it should be O.K. You can check to see if when at "Slow" the belt is all the way down to the lower (motor) shaft.

Thanks Chuck i also look on the forum for past discusion on changin of headstock couldn't find any. Did remember something about twisting of way tubes made me curious. Now the problem of my existing headstock. I know i did something wrong my slow speed is at the top of the sheaves . i never had the patience of anything mechanical. give me a piece of lumber now that another story, love to c what i can bring out of it ,where it a building or a work of art or a plain screw up. theres always something in that block of lumber waiting to come out. thanks chuck
