I am trying to compile a list of the set screws used in the Shopsmith equipment.

Following is a list of the various types and sizes that I come up with so far. (PS - These are parts that I have in a kit that I have had ever since I bought the Shopsmith. I believe these parts were provided to me, in a parts kit, at that time. I have not purchased set screws. I am simply trying to find where they are used).

1 5/16”-18x 7/8” serrated

2 5/16”-18x 5/8” half dog
3 5/16”-18x 5/8” flat point
4 5/16”-18x 5/8” serrated
5 5/16”-18x 5/8” cone point

6 5/16”-18x 3/8” half dog
7 5/16”-18x 3/8” flat point
8 5/16”-18x 3/8” serrated
9 5/16”-18x 3/8” cup point

10 5/16”-18x 1/4” flat point

I would appreiate it very much if a couple of you could verify which of these are included in the maintenance kit.

Dusty, My help/maintenance kit came with the following items from your list----(item #7)-- 6-- 5/16-18x 3/8 flat point (item #9)--5--5/16-18x3/8 cup point
and (item #10)--20--5/16-18x1/4 flat point. The kit says it was supposed to have 2 tapered set screws but I did not get them. No size was indicated on the tapered screws.

The SS web site list for the help kit does not tell you if the set screws are flat point, cup point, serrated ect.----Dave

Looks like we are going back in time where this same discussion happened back in early 2008.

Take a look at this post:
