Hi folks,

I'm new to the forums and a relatively new Shopsmither. I recently picked up an old-style (Magna 610) jigsaw and a joiner/planer for $40.

The mounting instructions for the jigsaw say to use an attached template to align the drive spindles, but there is no template attached. From the illustration, it appears the headstock drive spindle should be slightly higher than the saw's input spindle.

Can someone here provide that template, or perhaps an alternate method of properly aligning the spindles?

Thanks,
Mike

The jigsaw template has a 1/16" step on it to help you align the centerlines of the jigsaw and headstock output shaft. The jigsaw shaft is 1/2" and the output shaft is 5/8". Bottomline, with drive hubs mounted; the drive hubs should be aligned vertically. Of course they should be aligned horizontally also, but how you do this depends on what type of legs you have on your jigsaw.

Ahh, silly me. That should have been fairly obvious. I thought they wanted some offset for some reason. Thanks so much for the help.
