I have a mark V from 1950 serial number 271149 which has the small access hole with screws. There is no way my hand is going to be able to put the new power switch back in. Any ideas?, anyone made the hole bigger and went for one of the spring loaded covers, if so how did you cut the hole.

Drop the motor/pan. This will give you access to the whole inside of the headstock. You need to do this to access the wires anyway. If you slide the carriage and headstock all the way to the right end(tailstock/hinge) and raise to vertical, the motor/pan can be laid down and you go in from the bottom.
