lathe turners might want to check out the current email ad. it includes chisel sets and tailstock centers. PLUS there is a free DVD if you order a chisel set.

BTW, I just noticed that the word THANKS is "in" the word advance! So, Ivan did get the whole thing there; I was just too dense to see it!

Is the live center the one needed for pen turning?

A live center with a 60 degree point fits the pen mandrel tip better than the Shopsmith live center, although I did use the Shopsmith live center for a couple of years without major issues. I think most places which sell pen mandrels also sell a 60 degree live center.
