It might be a year or two until my 9month old grandboys will be able to play with this, but it was fun to make. I'm going in for foot surgery tomorrow, and will have to be non-weight bearing for 2 months. Not sure how that will affect my shop time. Anyway, this was fun to make.

Sharp looking toy!!! VERY nice job. That looks just as good if not better that anything you'd find in store. Congrats!! The little guy will surely get many years of good use out of that. If they aren't already, better locktite those fasteners....if the boy is like me, curiosity will figure out how to disassemble pretty fast. I was one of THOSE kids.

Gary,
Great job that toy makes me wish I had a grandson in the age group to enjoy such a toy.

I wish you the very best on the foot surgery. I am doing my best to avoid foot surgery. I pray yours goes well and you are back on both feet very soon. fjimp

GREAT looking crane Gary. Love the various woods ya used.

Good luck with the foot surgery. Just get an adjustable stool with wheels, that ya can put your knee on in the shop.:D

This is one super looking backhoe, Gary! Hey! while the boys are growing and your are keeping weight off your legs, why not practice with it picking small stuff off of the bed?

I vaguely remember a child's poem my Mom read to me, It had to do with a sick kid playing, while in bed, with his covers like hills. There were references to the "Hills of Counter-pain".
