I have been reading all your responses, and find merit with each and everyone's suggestions. In fact, I have been trying to "draw in" all your various ideas into a "Turning Tool Tote" that will hold my turning tools (Chuck's idea), that will go into a larger (on wheels) cabinet, that will protect the sharpened ends with the use of foam, and will have a side that will hold, via magnets my calipers, and other gauges, plus a storage box that will hold sandpaper, and micro mesh pads.
Now, I just have to find the time (The BIG PROBLEM!) to sit down and draw out the plans, incorporating all your suggestions! Currently, I am into the Christmas Making Presents mode, but will get back with a finished project down the road.
Once again, you guys have come thru!! Thanks!:)
John

Hi,
If you have access to Woodsmith #185 they have an interesting lathe tool caddy. It may not be what you are interested in but maybe you can find some parts of it that you can use in your design.
For those of you who have this issue it right up in the front just a few pages in.
Wish I could post a picture for all to see but I don't own the issue.

[QUOTE=colday]Here is that tool caddy:
I just got that issue today and was really impressed with that general design. I will probably add a lot more holes in the upper disc and instead of the shallow holes in the lower disc I would use a disc of low density shoe sole crepe for the tips to sink into. Most of us would probably make little changes to suit our own use but I thought the general design is a great idea.
