I think I learned more about the saw reading this thread than I ever knew before! What happens for me on these threads is that I get to see a more" Whole" view of the machines. It is a much more interrelated picture, and hence more helpful to a less experienced wood worker. THANKS :D
Most of what has been presented by posts to this thread is straight out of the manual! The exceptions being the bearing alterations some have made and some descriptions(hopefully accurate) of why what is there is there. Add to that a bit of been there done that information. The descriptions and experience is what makes this forum so beneficial.

Just overlook the occasional differences of 'opinion'(they also provide invaluable insight and self examination by the holder of an opposing opinion). So even the self anointed 'gurus' learn from these discussions.

It has been a while since I read this thread. I started playing around with band saw boxes and got a squeal from the saw. I re -read this, got out the manual , did maintenance and re- aligned the saw to the 1/4 in blade. I was not able to remove the squeal totally, but it is better. Interestingly ( to me anyway) the noise now happens only when there is no cutting pressure on the blade, and is a lower tone. I fought with the upper blade guide and bearing for several hours before I got things right, but again I learned a lot. Getting the thing aligned all the way up and down the blade and being able to move the guard up and down was my issue. I missed the " mark the starting position" instructions.:o That caused a lot of my issues. I think I will be able to do it more quickly if I need to do it again. The manual is great, but I was able to " see" much more after reading this thread. Thanks
