I asked my wife what this is and she doesn't know as well. One of my shop aprons says it is "sanforized". I have absolutely no idea what it is. If I decide to throw the apron into the wash, will I do something that I will regret later on?

BPRCheck this (http://www.google.com/search?q=sanforized&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=ie7&rlz=1I7ADBF_en) out.

Sanforized means it won't shrink. My mother taught me that so when I bought clothes for myself I knew they wouldn't shrink. I think with the new synthetic products shrinkage is not as big a problem today. But I remember when I was boy if you bought a nonsanforized pair of jeans that fit they would not after you washed them. The leg alone must have shrank 3 inches.

Wow! now there's a word that I haven't heard in years. Kinda like 8 track or Bakelite. (sp?)

I went to five different locations, about a month ago, trying to buy a sheet of bakelite. Everyone looked at me like I was nuts. "Bakelite, never heard of it".

I wanted it for a prototype out feed table that I am contemplating.

Probably good that I could not find it. I checked a small piece that I have and it is relatively heavy.

I'm assuming you wanted this as the surface of your table due to it's slick finish?

If so, check out UHMW or HMW plastics. Rockler carries them in sheets.
