Hi. I'm new here, so bear with me.

I have a Shop Smith MODEL ER Serial Number R51070. I would like to start using it but I don't have a user's manual.
Can someone tell me how old it is and where I can get the user manual please?
I appreciate any help.

First of all - Welcome to the Forum, Zeke1!
I found this on the Shopsmith site, under "Frequently asked Questions" and "do you have a Manual for it?" Unfortunately they don't have parts, but they do have a manual.
http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/faq/10er.htm
http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/itemfind.htm?item=877082

The second link is about getting the manual.

I have no knowledge about the 10ER, but there are some other owners of them on this forum. Some of the other folks may be able to tell you more about your machine. Don't be afraid to ask.

Best Wishes,

Thanks for the welcome and the information Charlese.
I will order the manual and study it prior to working or preventive maintenance. Background is I inherited it from my father in law and it has been in storage for a few years. Unfortunately we couldn't find the manual. I believe he purchased it new from Montgomery Ward, just don't know when. I recently purchased a home and can finally do something with it. Thanks again.

I just acquried an older shopsmith manufactured Magna corp. 101-3.
A three sheeve pulley, V-belt driven, still solid. Does a manual exist that a can purchase? Why? just because of its unique pratical simplicity. By the way still running. A few missing parts. Its former owner used it as a horizontal drill. He is a professional turner. He was going to scrap it. Thanks in advance, Frenchie

Just call shopsmith they may have a manual. I needed a manual for my joint-matic and it was only $4.95.
