Tommy MacDonald gets a woodworking show (http://www.finewoodworking.com/item/25050/tommy-macdonald-gets-a-woodworking-show). Will he be the new Norm?

In a word, no.
Different format and vastly different personality.
It's unfair to both he and Norm to make the comparison as FWW seems to do in their headline.
I hope the show succeeds. But, another Norm? Not happinin'!
Nick would've been a better choice.

I will have to agree with you, but sounds like that is what they would like to happen. Yes Nick would have made a better choice.:) I hope this guy does not get too big a head.:(

I was hoping the Wood Whisperer would have gotten the TV offer.

Ditto that.
One day, he will. He's just too good at what he does. I love that he takes time to show his mistakes and how to fix them. I've learned more from that than anything else.
And I enjoy his sense of humor.

Agreed... though I was sad to see him sell out to Festool.
I watched Tommy's first podcast (I think - the one with the really big table) and though he is clearly skilled, he comes across as an idiot. He tried to explain the importance of grain matching and ended up saying - I know not what. He didn't quite actually say "Duh..." but it was close.
My personal choice would be Gary Rogowski from Fine Woodworking. He has the best camera presence of any woodworker I have seen and is a natural teacher.

I just watched Tommy's first podcast too, and yikes! I sure hope his TV presence and communication skills have improved! That was almost painful to watch.
