All,

I have attached two pictures (one of each side) of a used pro planer I bought today. I could tell it was missing parts, but the seller told me the parts were in a large storage box he was including with the sale (Note: I bought a lot of Shopsmith accessories from him). Unfortunately, the parts were not in the box. Stupid me for not checking.

Obviously I'm missing the feed motor, but I'm not sure what else. Can you help me identify the missing pieces?

I may still have gotten a good deal regardless. I paid $1500 for the following:

1. Shopsmith 510 with working headstock (missing the bench tubes though)
2. Pro planer with power stand (missing parts of course)
3. Power station
4. Bandsaw
5. Belt sander
6. Strip sander
7. Jointer
8. DC3300 dust collector
9. Lathe duplicator
10. Shopsmith molder head without knives

It would have been a better deal had the Pro planer been complete.

Chuck

It seems that you are missing the feed motor and speed control box from one side and the pulley and belt cover from the other side. You can see an exploded view of the Pro Planer here (http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/partscat/proplanerexpview.htm).

From the drawing, it looks like the side that is supposed to have the feed motor may be missing many other things as well. For example, is it missing the gear cover (reference #50), the bearing support (reference #20), or the feed pinion (reference #49)?

At a minimum, you are missing:

#83 - 514690, 1ea Feed Motor $472.37
#88 - 51341503, 1ea Gear Cover $14.14
#89 - 513411, 1ea Safety Key $4.52
#90 - 513760, 3ea, Screw 10/32 $.80
#91 - 514736, 1ea, Speed Control Box $364.53

Plus those items previously mentioned.

When Shopsmith first introduced the planer, they had a version without the feed motor that used a hand crank for feeding the wood through the planer. Don't know if they have that stuff available any longer or if that was how this planer was originally equipped.

Looks like you are missing one more "box of stuff".:D

Fortunately, some ebay sellers have taken to parting out planers. So if you cannot get the other "box" from the seller, it might not be quite as pricey to get the planer up and running as it would have been a while back.

Hopefully, the rest of the accessories are fully functional.
