I inherited my father's 1957 model Shopsmith which included a jig saw. Ya, I know that the jigsaw is passe, but I grew up using that thing, and would like to get it back in service.

I've lubed and adjusted it, and even hooked it up on the Shopsmith, but without blades, it is just a boat anchor.

Does anyone have a line on blades that will work in the Shopsmith jigsaw?

The blades are 5 inch plain ends. If you can only find pin ends, the pins are not very difficult to remove.

Welcome to the madhouse, madwolf. Glad you found us. Jigsaw is a great tool. Did you check the oil level? It takes ~3oz of 10W to fill up the chamber.

p.s. Where your location? Profile doesn't show. No stalkers here so don't be afraid to enter it. You might have neighbors.

I live in Deer Park, WA, about 20 miles north of Spokane, WA.

Thanks for the heads up on the oil. I'll look into it.

I have a few 5 inch blades in the cabinet, I'll give lopping off those pins a try.

Real glad you mentioned that. I thought the pins were fused to the blade. I snipped and ground flush 'assuming' it was.

So the pin is just an interference fit into the blade?

You can edit your profile to show your location. Then people will quit asking you where you are:p.
