I am seeking assistance before I really need it. I am preparing to do a rebuild and am trying to identify all the parts before I start.
In the following picture (idler sheave not shown), where do the two loose parts get installed. I cannot see these parts on my operational Mark V but I assume they are there somewhere.

That idler shaft looks terrible but it is new. I gotta clean that up before it gets installed.

The U-Shaped clip went on after the inner sheave on my greenie to hold it on the shaft. The round clip I don't recognize????

One is 504179 (ring-retaining) and the other is 504189 (clip-sheave, retaining).

Yes, the U-shaped one will be visible on your old idler shaft (amidst gunk) as soon as you remove the control sheave. Pop that U-clip off, remove the idler sheave, and you'll see the round ring. When putting the (old) idler sheave on the new idler shaft, the round ring goes on the idler-shaft first. It may need to "stretch open" to get onto the shaft. Never fear, the idler sheave will then fit over it and force it nicely back into close contact with its groove. When the idler sheave is on, the U-retaining clip then finally goes on. Oh yes, the Key piece has to be remembered as well.

I believe the ring goes between the bearing and the idler sheave. As previously stated the u shaped clip goes into the bottom of the idler sheave after it is in place. These will sit in the two groves you see in the idler shaft assembly to capture the idler sheave in place.

Using the photo image that I posted in this thread, do the two retainers go into the two grooves in the idler shaft and are they in the correct position with respect to one another?
Thank you for the information.
Wish I had an idler sheave; I'd then have a complete assembly (I think).
Looks like that ring clip is going to have to go into and then out of the one groove on its way to the groove it is to live in. That may have me muttering before I am done.

I'm not nuhobby but...
Yes the picture has the components laid out in the proper order.
Yes the ring will have to go over the first grove to the second grove (PIA)
Yes the idler sheave is the only thing that appears to be missing.

Good luck:)

Oh yea, I didn't see the key (108) for the floating sheave either. If you don't have that you will need it.
