Wow! Just as I posted the previous message the speed picked up. Ask and you shall receive. :)

Think maybe I have found(stumbled upon) your problem. At least if it is still the same as mine. (and it sounds the same).

I work on a lap top using windows. Every once and a while, Microsoft (windows) and/or Symantic (Norton) send me an update. That's a good thing!:) The only problem associated with the updates is; they eat up connection memory and make the computer act slowly for a time.:( Once the updates are downloaded, everything is back to normal.:D

We rarely come close to maxing out our bandwidth for our web server, usually we sit around 30-50% of our maximum. Every now and then we have peaks but they only last a few minutes and normally happen around 1am EST.

This forum uses a lot of Javascript which is a Client Side programming language (meaning that it runs on the users web browser)...It would be more likely that whats causing slow downs has more to do with slow connections or low browser memory. Cleaning up your Temporary Internet Files can help.

I have a Mac and wouldn't think of running Norton on it. I don't know about pc's, but Norton and Mac's don't get along well. I don't think I had any background jobs using my bandwidth, so I don't know what the problem was. I am running on a beta version of my browser, so it could have some kinks to get ironed out.
